All good things come to an end, right? Well, it looks like the Kemba Walker tenure in Boston is coming to an end as well. It's been reported that Kemba Walker and the Boston Celtics want a "breakup". Now, there's a few reasons for this expected move to happen. Want to know more? Let's deep dive right into it!
Walker and the Celtics Want a "Breakup" Because of the 2020 Trade Attempts
Supposedly, the Celtics wanted to get ahead of the curve on this one. The Celtics tried to trade Walker during the 2020 season and that has put a strain between himself and the organization. Can't say I really blame the gut in that regard. I'd be pretty mad too if I found out a team that gave me a max deal wanted to trade me after the first year. But ultimately, when you find that tidbit of information out, it's understandable why Walker and the Celtics want a "breakup".
Walker and the Celtics Want a "Breakup" Because of His Knee
That knee just hasn't been the same for Kemba Walker in his time with the Celtics. He couldn't play in any back to backs due to the Celtics being careful with his load management. Then what happens? He didn't play in three of the five playoff games! So much for that idea working out, huh? So why not try to trade Walker to a team that can deal with his knee issues and give him a fresh start?
In Conclusion
I'm keeping this one short and sweet today. The Kemba experiment didn't work it. Is it similar to Kyrie Irving? Not even close! Kemba gave his all. He just had a lot of mileage before he came to Boston. Now let's see what Brad Stevens can do and see what he can get for Walker in an off-season trade package.
